Can a cat and a mouse live together peacefully?
I already stated in a previous pet related question that I have a desire to get an assistance dog as well as a rabbit and a cat when I move out of where I am, and get a place to live by myself in the company of pets…It had been humorously demonstrated in the Looney Tunes cartoons that a dog, a cat and a bird CANNOT live together peacefully, at least not in Hector (that’s the dog who usually has no lines, I don’t understand why they gave him a name in the first place, same goes for the cat Penelope in the Pepe le Pew cartoons:P), Sylvester, and Tweety’s case. In real life this could be understandable as cats hunt mice and birds, although dogs and cats can be great friends. If provided with enough alternate “hunting” choices (toys that let cats exercise the instinct to hunt), could a cat learn to leave a mouse (the known human companion, at least – not necessarily wild mice) alone? Thanks in advance for your help, guys!
As everyone else has said, a cat and rodent can get along. What they didn’t tell you, however, was HOW to achieve this. The easiest way is to get a kitten, only a month or so old, and get a baby rodent. you just out them together and neither will harm the other. If anything, they will be very interested in each other. If you raise them together, then everything will work out no matter what. After the rodent dies, the cat will still love them so you can get another and the bond will continue. If your cat is an adult, then you will have to go with the old hamster ball! Good luck! (assuming that you actually wanted to do this and it was not just out of curiosity)
